Question To trade or not to trade?

Ok so i was in my local shop today and came across a beautiful japanese strat with a maple neck, 3 tone sunburst finish and really hot single coil pickups. The price was $340. I really like this guitar it's just that if i want to get it i have to trade my Japanese reissue fender jaguar. The jag was my first real electric guitar, i've been knocking around ways to fix it up but the strat has everything i want right with it. I'm also trying to save for a new mandolin. This deal just seems a bit too good to pass up, what should i do? i'm leaning towards getting the strat and saving for the mando afterwards.

If your going to regret getting rid of your Jaguar since it was your first real guitar, I wouldn't do it. However, I'd much rather have the Strat.

Re: To trade or not to trade?

Yeah, not so much. I've been recently thinking about all these things i could do to improve it when the strat has basically everything i wanted the jag to be so why the hell bother? The thing that bugs me the most is it's gonna set back my purchase of a new mando for a bit

Re: To trade or not to trade?

True, but it may be one of those great opportunities too. While you have that opportunity to get that guitar, go for it. You could always save more money for the mandolin.

Yeah I say go for it, unless the mando just can't wait.

Get the Strat. They're awesome little buggers.

If you like the neck on that Strat, you can literally upgrade every single other screw in it in the future. I'd say go with the Strat as well. I have two, love 'em both.

Re: To trade or not to trade?

yeah there's actually nothing about this strat that i'd change other than a low friction nut and possibly one of those piezo strat bridges.

Just put it on layaway, and if you live in the US, remember tax returns are coming up. The more guitars the better in my opinion. Each guitar I own has its own unique plus.

Re: To trade or not to trade?

yeah it's on layway at the moment, if i keep making payments will the date before i lose my deposit change? I put down some cash and they told me that i had until january 6th. I've never done this sort of thing before so i don't konw exactly how it works, i'm just not sure if i can come up with the rest of the money by the date they gave me, but i do know that i can pay about half of that amount. Will they give me more time if i give them more money?

Just talk to them. Chances are they'll work with you.
