trem angle trouble

hey y'all, i put on a .58, and a set of 9's on my RG1527 a few hours ago, i originally had a 9-54, the same as stock size ibanez. anyway, my trem angle is way high, action IS where i want it about, but the angle is too high up from the cavity, i was wondering, since the claw is already screwed in up to where the threaded screw part stops, if i can screw more into it to pull it down into the body without damage or bad stuff happening to my new $600 guitar

Replace or add springs...Considering I use a 10-52 set with a 60 on a long scale, a piddly 58 shouldn't have raised it that much. Possibly weak springs. Try replacing them, or add one and see what's up. If the claw is screwed in that far, I don't know what else could be wrong.

Some of the screws thread the whole shaft, some stop 1/2" from the head. Either way screw it in as far as you need to.

Just to add my tuppence (love that word) and to echo Rich, out of the 5 or 6 7 string ibanez i have owed, all have been screwed in PAST the thread end, this is no big problem, and is totally safe from all points of view, Just grab a screwdriver and sort the angle out :-)

HTH ... BTW both my UV and RG7Custom are screwed to about 2 or 3 mm away from touching wood with .10's and a bottom .60 ... All my guitars have 3 springs, always :-)

I think Ibanez should start setting these things up with stock guage 10's.
I don't know what gague the masses use, but I find 9's a pain in the neck.

My 1527 took a me a while to set up too.
