Trem question RG2570evsl

I just got a 2004 RG2570 for $500 locally the other day. I was setting it up today and noticed something about the trem that I am confused about. It is an Edge Pro, not the ZR that they are currently putting on it. It sits so low in the cavity that I can only pull up about 1/4 step. I have the action set very low the way that I like it. My 1998 RG570 is set up the same way but I can pull up on the Edge much more with no problem. Everything else on the 2570 looks to be fine. I just think it is strange and hope that nothing is wrong with it. Is this just the way these are designed?

Re: Trem question RG2570evsl

Wow. I think that I would have to shim it quite a bit to get where I would like it to be. Hmmm...

One fold of a business card will create more than enough lift.

Re: Trem question RG2570evsl

Nice score. I would prefer the EP trem version over the new EZ only because I know the EP much better. The business card shim is an easy solution and if you were to get too much pull back on the trem the strings could bottom out on the fretboard anyway. Just my 2cents.
