Trem replacement options 440sII

Just bought this off ebay (although the guy advertised it as a 540s with Floyd). The action seems high and the trem saddles look like they are as low as they can go. Now, I guess the posts on the trem "could" be sunk lower in the body...but that is last choice. Has the HQ-J trem now.

So what options would I have for a replacement fit. Now, I don't need a FR style trem at all, as I really would not use a trem at just something that would fit and improve the action.

Any ideas?

That's interesting that you can't get better action, I've had a couple of those and had no issue with the action. That being said, I don't know of a replacement trem that will fit either. Maybe the neck needs to be shimmed to give you a little more angle to the body?

As Penguins said........I would START with a neck shim and go from there. If you can't bring the strings closer to the neck, then bring the neck closer to the strings.

Thinking about this for an option.

guitarfetish has a Floyd Rose Fastloader that would drop in to this stud spacing now...for around $65.

Re: Trem replacement options 440sII

Usually adjusting the height/action on a FR style trem IS done at the post.. raising and lowering the bridge.. if you need the bridge to stay at the height it is now.. for a bolt on guitar.. you'd shim the neck but putting shims in the neck pocket on the body side of the pocket. Most Floyd style trems don't allow for raising and lowering individual saddles without having to shim each individual saddle and this is usually only done to radius the bridge to match the curvature/radius of the neck when it doesn't match up with the bridge well enough to have even action across the neck from string to string.

Well I took apart the saddles and cleaned everything up...trem looks 100% better. Did play with the posts and it moved it down quite a bit. Going to have my tech do a full set up/intonation on it though.

Also, (am going to get killed by the Ibanez community), I am replacing the pickups with lipsticks. Humbucker and 2 singles...going to coil tap the humbucker. I love the feel of Ibanez guitars, but want that lipstick strat going to try it with this one.

Black GFS lipsticks (as they were out of the chrome neck and middle)..since guitar is black and stock pickups were black (and I didn't want to wait for whenever the chromes came back in stock), pulled the trigger today.

So hopefully get the pickups next week and a week or so for tech/install/setup a couple weeks will have my "dream" lipstick guitar.
