Tuning... - ...!?!?!?!?!

HOW DO THEY DO IT!?!

Korn's Munky and Head tune down a whole step from standard. *Whenever I try to tune down, though, the strings get floppy and go out of tune. *What should I do? *

HEAVIER GAUGE STRINGS!! You should have at least 11's on a whole step down.

by the way, head and munky usually detune one and a half steps to Ab when theyre in the studio-------although, they said they usually cant pull that off live because of tuning problems. *just thought id share that. *

Easy.....they set-up their guitars properly. *When you change guage, you need to adjust the springs. *A floyd is a see-saw. *Both sides (strings/springs) gotta be equal.

It's not that easy, all three of my springs screws screwed all the way into the body just barely keep the trem level with a set of 10-56's. How the hell do they keep the trem level w/10-60's?

more springs probably, before I had the floyd on my UV blocked, I played with 10-13-17-30-42-52+62 strings, and had no problems with it.

It's not important but almost every song on all korn CD's are in A. Im not sure who told you it was Ab but from what I know they've never used lower then A.
(Actually one song on the new one used drop-G tuning but thats not the same..)

Good layman's explanation. * *

Two hands31,

Buy new springs or add a fourth spring to your guitar.

Noodles,

My 7-string guitars are set up .10-.56 and are tuned standard.

If I tuned them down a whole step, using .11's would be no problem...

Remember - you can screw the spring retainer screws ALL THE WAY IN, down to the screw heads. *You don't have to stop at the end of threads.
