sniperfrommars1... a little over #-bills.

I have multiple closeup shots which confirm that the finish on this piece is near mint. The original owner bought this new in 1991 and used it for some studio work. Aside from that it was mainly stored in its case.

Glen... I should have it sometime on Friday. Would Jemsite like some pictures for the web site?

Are you sure of the model number? It looks exactly like the RG1220QMTO that I had (which then went to Mr. Brent Duersch). It had the original receipts with model number, etc. It was supposedly a special order run for Guitar Center, but I wasn't able to get any more info that that. If it was an Exotic Wood model, it'd have the standard 1/2" thick top. Mine had a 7-8MM thick top comparable to those found on the RG3120s.

The guitar was also discussed here: http://www.jemsite.com/phpbb/viewtop...ghlight=rg1220

On mine? The headstock was just like any other USA Custom of the time:

that is what i figured... old UCEW neck in use (if the scarf joint matches the photos of my UCEW in the gallery).

i'm not certain any UCEWs came with bindings but you'd have to pull the neck and see what the body/neck are marked (if at all)... glen

The store receipt that mine came with was dated '96 I think...Brent might know for sure, but I know that he's since sold the guitar. The neck pocket on mine was stamped with like "QM-TO", but no actual model designation.

After looking closer at some of the pics and reading that thread you linked, I think you are right.

I went to my local guitar shop this morning and the owner went digging through his old Ibanez stuff to see if he could find anything. He told me that he remembers that there was a differnt model number designation like UCEWQM (not UCEW1QM) which had the H-H configuration for special orders that were done during the UCEW production.

As mentioned in the other post, the standard production UCEW's signiture feature was the thick top. Thus, I was advised that if this has the thinner top with the natural-masked-binding, then it is probably one of the UCEW custom order runs that guitar stores could order for their personal stock.

The gentleman I got this from purchased it in '91 from Great Great House of Guitars (SN# F150085). He measured the maple top at 1/4-inch. It also has Grover tuners, LoPro Edge, AANJ, Dimarzio Tone Zone bridge & PAF Pro neck with selector switch & pull-tap on tone pot.

Once I get it on Friday I will be able to dig deeper into this.

One tip off that it's definitely NOT a '91 is that it's got a LoPro trem The guitar was nice, but not at all like the other (5) UCEWs that I had (3 of which I had at the same time that I had the RG1220). It's definitely a USA Custom neck though. My guess would be that it was a Japanese-made body with a leftover USA Custom neck, but...it's going to be really hard to be positive about anything since it wasn't a normal production model. It's all speculative. Regardless, it's a nice guitar and certainly different from anything else out there!
