After looking closer at some of the pics and reading that thread you linked, I think you are right.
I went to my local guitar shop this morning and the owner went digging through his old Ibanez stuff to see if he could find anything. He told me that he remembers that there was a differnt model number designation like UCEWQM (not UCEW1QM) which had the H-H configuration for special orders that were done during the UCEW production.
As mentioned in the other post, the standard production UCEW's signiture feature was the thick top. Thus, I was advised that if this has the thinner top with the natural-masked-binding, then it is probably one of the UCEW custom order runs that guitar stores could order for their personal stock.
The gentleman I got this from purchased it in '91 from Great Great House of Guitars (SN# F150085). He measured the maple top at 1/4-inch. It also has Grover tuners, LoPro Edge, AANJ, Dimarzio Tone Zone bridge & PAF Pro neck with selector switch & pull-tap on tone pot.
Once I get it on Friday I will be able to dig deeper into this.
