Unknown "RG" pawn shop find

No pictures because they closed when I found the RG/

If you can help me figure this out please,
Unknown to me because the only word on the entire guitar is
"Ibanez" with the little swoosh logo on the neck with "Ibanez" but nothing more anyplace, what model is this?

Ibanez,
Its serial number:
F=Fujigen
F242466

Its blue

The pickups are V7 V8 S1

And the good news its $89!
Japan written all over it.

Its in need of setup, few bits missing like knobs and switch is a bit loose.
Also its thrashed, something that does not bother me,

Re: Unknown "RG" pawn shop find

What type of bridge does it have? Does it have a pickguard?

Re: Unknown "RG" pawn shop find

I take it back, I dont remember if it had a pickguard. the bridge is the "Licensed by Floyd rose tremolo"

But $89 is still a good deal?

Could this be some kind of early model because it just says "Ibanez" ?

I know, take the neck off...

Re: Unknown "RG" pawn shop find

It's a 1992 Japanese made model. Would be worth a punt for sure. It could be an RG550, S540 or S440, something along those lines. Did it have a maple fretboard and a matching headstock??

Re: Unknown "RG" pawn shop find

I feel lame but the shop was closed when I got there and I left my camera phone in the car, and they locked me in with no time to get the photo.

I know the guitar was all original, I guess matching.
There were huge chips all over (I dont care)

The back had three cover plates over the cavity's.

Well I guess for $90 plus $25 in gas (far away) its worth it.

The tuners I think were a kind of anadosized gray Gotoh

I know worlds most lame topic, I was hoping the serial number and the details about "Ibanez" model would be something but Ill pop the neck off.

Re: Unknown "RG" pawn shop find

Looks like the RG550BU
V7/8 for sure.

Yep, Im dying to go, its on "Hold" with the manager so its safe.

I have a marshall VS8100 and 4x12. What more will I need for a metal tone?
I have other high end tube amps but wanted an all death metal "Rig"
I chose the VS8100 valvestate because a friend said solid state is great for metal.

I have only a first year 1979 TS-808 and no "Metal" effects yet.

Re: Unknown "RG" pawn shop find

That's a great price for that RG550. Make sure and snap it up.

Re: Unknown "RG" pawn shop find

Yeah, $90 is very good, even if it is a little beat up.

Definitely get some pics, and tell us about your new score!

Re: Unknown "RG" pawn shop find

Don't need the neck off--just post a pic--we'll know what it is. Sounds like a 550, 560, or 570.

Re: Unknown "RG" pawn shop find

Its a '92 MIJ Ibanez for $89.

I dont care if someone took a dump in the trem cavity, you buy it.

At worst, you double your money parting it out
