Unusual pickup setup BL 1025
I have many, many Ibanez guitars ranging from 1980 Blazers to recent Prestiges, but the 1997 BL-1025 is the only guitar I've ever seen that came stock with the slug coils reversed. In this guitar, the bridge humbucker has the slug coils closer to the Trem, and the neck humbucker has the slug coil closer to the tuning pegs. This year I won 2 auctions for BL-1025's, both with the factory pickups and wiring, and was kinda confused to see how the pickups were set in the pickguard, and the odds of two identicle guitars having reversed pickups seemed unbelievable.
I checked the catalogs for 2007 and sure enough, the BL-1025's have the slugs on the outer coils, while the BL-850's have them normal, as does every guitar I ve ever owned.
They have a 5 way selector, and push/pull coil split , giving 10 distinct Humbucking tones.
Has anybody else seen a guitar with the pickup coils reversed like this? Is there a specific reason for this?
