USA Custom confirmation required.

Please confirm. Picture is crappy. Guitar is available in Florida, had a price drop and its within reason now, so I'm going to hop on it if it's real. I don't know alot about USA customs.

Re: USA Custom confirmation required.

Guitar Center has had that guitar for sale for a LONG time. A few observations. The finish is unlike any other USAC I've ever seen, which makes me wonder if it's a refinish. I'd have to see it in person to say for sure, but it's probably either a VERY worn/faded original or a refin. I doubt seriously that any of the electronics are original. And it's hard to tell, but the hardware looks like powder cosmo, which would not be original to a USAC.

It's not a USRG series, because it's got a conventional truss rod. What color is the Ibanez headstock logo? Is it a sticker? Is it silkscreened? Is it cleared over?

To me, the guitar looks sketchy, which is probably why it's been on the sale rack for so long.

Did you get a serial # off of it?

Re: USA Custom confirmation required.

Saw it online from GC's used section. Since i'm in Alabama and the guitar is in Florida I can't get a serial or any finite details :-/

The more I think on it:

1) Fret dots? Aren't customs bound/sharktooth/etc?
2) Pickup rings? Aren't customs direct mounted?

I'm reminded of a 7-string USAC fake that my friend bought that had a similar finish (looked like a rattlecan finish almost). It was a refinished RG7620. Rich should really list these in his fake section if this one turns up as a fake too.

It just smacks of fake.

Re: USA Custom confirmation required.

Dots were an option for USA customs. My Necro Castle has them. She also has a pickup ring for the bridge humbucker.

Re: USA Custom confirmation required.

Dot's and rings are ok. It's the REST of the guitar that's off.

Personally, I'd pass.

Definitely could be fake. Check this link out, you can buy USAC headstock decals.

Taorama's Digital Madness does too...I just now thought about it since you brought it up.

Thanks for all the input guys. If I decide to move on a USRG/USAC, i'll just get a confirmed one from a forum member or Rich or something.
