USA Custom RG7620 - value?

So a good friend of mine has just acquired a USA Custom RG7620.

While I haven't had the opportunity to inspect the guitar myself, he confirmed its authenticity and condition, and is curious of its value (for personal or resale...)

It has been modified with EMG's (I'm pretty sure those didn't come stock...)

Other than that, it's all kosher.

Re: USA Custom RG7620 - value?

After I did some research and found there was only 1 model 7-string USA custom made, I'm thinking now its a USRG7 from the LA custom shop...

I have to go pick up my Mesa from the shop so i'll be able to go confirm what this sucker is.

Still, any estimates?

If you can, get some pics. It might as well be a normal RG7620 with EMGs put in. Pics would clarify things...

Re: USA Custom RG7620 - value?

I told him to check the neck pocket for the code and its labeled as a 7620, with the USA Custom headstock logo. He thought the guitar was refinished (he is a vendor, and knows his stuff, just not ultra rare Ibanez's, and we're kinda lost on this one...)

Dark blue satin finish; 1 vol, 1 tone, 3 way switch, fret dots. Pretty much the standard 7620 trimmings.

I'm almost dumbfounded, or willing to cry fake, but I honestly don't know that much about the USA customs.

Pics soon.

Re: USA Custom RG7620 - value?

Seems like a refinished RG7620. I don't think there ever was a US Custom 7 string made.
The USRG7 (CSD1, CSD3) were LACS designed, but made in Japan and of course don't have USA Custom logos. IIRC the CSD3 had a satin finish and EMGs as well as 4 pots, Les Paul style...

Hello everyone. These pictures are about 1MB each.

Body: http://www.dpo.uab.edu/~vwilson/7620/100_0645.JPG

Electronics:http://www.dpo.uab.edu/~vwilson/7620/100_0649.JPG

The neck says "RG7 - 6X0". One of the screw holes is right where the X is, but I can only find 7620s and 7680s, and this is not a baritone guitar so I am assuming it's a 7620.

It also has the letter "N" stamped in the pocket, which I'm assuming is a date code. There is no serial number anywhere on the instrument.

It plays well, but will play better once I find a truss rod wrench that fits. The frets seem particularly nice.

Thanks for any and all input
Victor

Re: USA Custom RG7620 - value?

That is a 7620 that someone refinished and added a USA Custom logo.

I would take the average retail amount for a clean 7620, and cut it in half for a value.

Re: USA Custom RG7620 - value?

How can you tell the USA logo's been added? I was thinking the headstock may have been the only thing original, but I don't really know anything about Ibanez guitars

Oh. It's that no 7 strings were built in the US, is that it? Research ftw.

Avtually the whole guitar looks like a home project RG7620, not a pro refinish for sure...
