Used 2001 RG3120TW Price

I'm curious to hear opinions on what a Used 2001 RG3120TW is worth.
I'm looking at an Ad asking for 1050$CAN. Condition 8.5-9/10

thanks,

Matt

Way too much for that guitar. I don't think I'd pay more than $850 for a mint condition one.

Takin' a Ride is right, I bought one of those brand new when they came out, that was pretty much the running price at the time (it was at least a grand), they had a price drop sometime after they came out, I think 850 would be a lot more reasonable. Does the seller have pics Matt? It's a sick guitar, but a decade on it is bound to have more wear than an 8.5-9, unless the seller was really careful.

Edit: They must have had a price jump, cause this dude here is asking $1,600 for it here

Thats in Australia though, we get ripped for prices here. Around $1600 is the usual going price for those here, I'm looking to get one, and for a guitar like that in Australia, thats actually a pretty good price. New Prestiges RRP's here are around $2500-3000. JEM's retail for up to $4500. Sucks to live here.

Ouch. Well; I guess the guitar's worth is all in the eye of the beholder. Depends on how bad the instrument's seeker wants it.

Yep, but we dont really have much of a choice. Everything is overpriced, not just Ibanez.

Re: Used 2001 RG3120TW Price

Thanks for the info Guys!

Only 1 pic, but not good enough quality to tell how good it is. Asked for more, but didn't get any.

Good point. Found a finished 3bay auction @ 640$US.
The seller said he paid 2000$ for it in Florida, so I'm starting to think he isn't the most honest. I was thinking 750$ish, but I'm starting to re-consider and get something newer.

A friend of a friend has a brand new RG770 reissue in blue. Wants 1500$(1330$+tax here) for it tho... Seems a bit much, but I can only find it online for 1700$US + Shipping.
I'm borrowing a friends Jem right now, and am thinking I do need the middle single coil.

Re: Used 2001 RG3120TW Price

RG770 is a sick guitar, my only discrepancy with it is that the body is basswood, the 3120TW is mahogany with a flame maple top, I'm just weird that way... As much as I wanted the UV777, I couldn't bring myself to buy it cause it's basswood, although I know in my heart that the guitar would far surpass my expectations.

I believe your friend of a friend is being quite steep with you price wise (for a reissue too), if you can hang on a bit longer and keep searching you might find something better than the offer he's made you.

Re: Used 2001 RG3120TW Price

I had an RG3120DR and it was an absolutely sweet guitar. If you can get a slightly used one for $750ish, I'd go for it. You certainly won't be disappointed in the guitar. I especially like the PAF Pro in the neck on that guitar.

Re: Used 2001 RG3120TW Price

I had to pass on the RG3120. The guy wanted too much for it, and wouldn't send any high quality pictures. Also, I borrowed a friends Jem, and really loved the tones from the single coil.

So I when and tried the 770. The neck is absolutely amazing!!! It's DEAD MINT. Not a scratch on it, and still has alot of the factory plastic. The pickups are great, and the hardware looks awesome against the blue. So it's mine now

For me, the neck was what sold me. You'd have to go with a RG3XXX to come close to the 770, and they just don't have the same appeal IMO, and $$$. The 770 is a bit flashy for me, but the more I play it, the more I fall in love. Definitely on the same level as a Jem... didn't believe it would be this good.

Looks way better than any pics I've seen online. Inlays are really nicely done, compared to the pics on ibanezrules. I've read that the fret ends are sharp, but I have no probs with this one.

The guy I bought it off of is a guy collector/tech. So he set it up perfectly.
I could tell he didn't really want to see it go, but he has too my RGs and project guitars on the go.

I'll upload some pics tonight if anyone is interested.

Thanks again for all the input guys!
Matt
