USRG Top Refin

I am thinking of refinishing my USRG20 a different color since it has some nicks and chips on the edge. Can anyone tell me how thick the quilt top is? Is is a paper thin veneer or does it have some thickness to it?

Thanx,
Pete

Re: USRG Top Refin

It's thin. At least on my USRG30, it's maybe 1/8". Be very careful!

Re: USRG Top Refin

my usrg30 is thinner, not like a photo top though an 1/8 inch sounds about right , if you have a little experience doing finishs then go for it but if this is a first or second project , i'd get a junker body to test out doind a re-finish on. a usrg20 isn't a guitar you want to mess up on

Thanx for the info - I was gonna have it professionally done if I get it done. It just looks thin to me, which is why I was asking.
