UV Neck On Baritone

Hey all.

I own an RG7421XL (Baritone 7 String) as you will know, that's a 27 inch neck. Pretty big. I recently spotted a UV777P Neck on **** and wanted to know, would this fit on my RG7421XL? I'd like to point out that the Baritone is Hardtail, bolt on and the body doesn't look to be any bigger than a typical RG7 body. And also I'm currently using the Baritone for Standard tuning. Any help much appreciated, Dan.

I'm guessing it would fit your RG. Not exactly sure though, you may need to do bits and pieces to make it fit, but don't take my word for it!

If you do get it, i'll buy your baritone neck!

Re: UV Neck On Baritone

I don't think it would work. The bridge on the RG7421XL is mounted further back than on regular RG7's, which would lead to intonation issues.

I think.

Re: UV Neck On Baritone

Roland's right. The bridge is located further, so the intonation points on the neck are going to be different with a 25.5" neck designed for a "normal" bridge position. This means you'll sound WAY out of tune.

I'm not sure if it'll physically fit - I suspect it might, but I wouldn't even guarantee that. However, it'd be unplayable, or at least unplayable in tune.

I think it would fit. You'll have intonation issues as Roland said though....

"Fit" and "work" are different issues. As long as the neck joint is the same (AANJ vs. Block), it'd fit. It wouldn't work, though. It's not just intonation, entire notes will not be in the right place because the guitar is not made for 25.5". The guitar's body is engineered for a longer scale length.

Thumbs down Re: UV Neck On Baritone

Hi,

I almost had the same question before!
I wanted to put a baritone neck on a normal RG7420...

Would fit but not work I think. The string length is different.
It doesn´t matter in which way you do it.A bari neck on a Rg7420 body or a UV neck on a bari body. The strings are shorter than they should be - in both ways!

It would work if you place the neck on the neck pickup position

;-)

...would be like a normal seven.

Entire notes not being in the right place IS an intonation issue, we intonate to put them in the right place on the neck.

I think what DD means is "they're in the wrong place, and you can't adjust the saddles far enough to get them in the right place"

Exactly, because you're trying to use one scale length on a guitar made for another scale length, it wouldn't just be an issue of moving saddles, you'd have to adjust fret spacing as well! Is that a task you're up to? I'd just buy a new neck that fit my guitar in that case.

Re: UV Neck On Baritone

Or pull the frets and make it fretless. Problem solved.

And for my next trick...........

Re: UV Neck On Baritone

ok, i decided that if I win the neck, I will grab an RG7 body somewhere. Next question, will the UV777P neck work on a Hardtail 7?
