Question Versatile Ibanez's?

HI
-This is my very first post on Jemsite and a important one at that. Im in a jazz band and my guitar i have been using has become Shmutz. Now i am in the market for a quality Ibanez to replace it that has looks apropriate for this setting, has humbuckers, preferable under $500 and a RG body shape. I would bring in my S but i'm to close to it and would be distraught if it were stolen.
As for the jazz tone it doesn't need to be all that present in this situation mostly just a practice guitar that plays like butter; i'm open to all suggestions and opinions.
Thanks

Re: Versatile Ibanez's?

You could get a Mahogany bodied RG520.. May be a little more versatile than a Basswood RG. An RG560 with an SC in the neck and HB at the bridge might be nice an versatile for you also.... Good luck in your search man!

Re: Versatile Ibanez's?

I have an RG 420 with a mahogany body and I put a Duncan Pearly Gates HB in the neck and a DiMarzio Evo2 in the bridge. I also added an FU brass big block on to the Edge III trem. This is an extremely versatile Iby, and even though its a cheap Indo it plays great and sounds even better.

The 2013 rg450's have a edge zero 2 trem= good. Put better pickups in one of those=excellent. Indo or not...... after that= great guitar

Re: Versatile Ibanez's?

Versatile and under $500??

The only answer is an RG570 if it HAS to be an RG...........

Personally, I'd be after an SZ520/720. They can be found all day long for under $400. They have a set-neck mahog body/neck. H-H, and a dependable STB bridge.

Re: Versatile Ibanez's?

If I were you I would check out one of the new rg450's, best bang for your buck with a price tag of only 399.99 and the stock pickups are usable, until you decide to upgrade them down the road. Hell now that they come with the edge zero 2 I might have to get one myself

Re: Versatile Ibanez's?

Edit: ryc is right, rg550/570 is good. S540 is also a very good choice. Edit 2 :apparently I should read xD

Are you ok with used? Some steals on some sites if you're interested.
