Very sad prestige seven

Walked into daddys, saw one of these,

(not that one) an Rg2027x, violin finish. Saw the price, $400. WTFcheap? Looked closer, saw it. Guy at the counter says "makes you want to barf doesn't it? Looks like he did it with a spoon". Some moron decided to try to scallop the thing. Totally uneven, frets torn up and jagged, inlays fallen out. It was worse than that scallopowned picture. There was also a terrible job of sanding the back of the neck. Thing just played like crap. I'd have bought it right away, and I've done so before, and they knew it, but instead went home disgusted.

Maybe I'll eventually give them a lowball offer for it and find a new neck. The edge alone is worth quite a bit.

*sadness*

Imagine how the idiot that raped that 7-string must have felt when he saw what he'd done!

Regards,

D.

Well... If I were in your position, and I had the cash, I´d buy it and look for a neck. If all else fails, check Warmoth. They could probably build you a custom neck.

Re: Very sad prestige seven

i think mabye you should have got.... it and got someone to make a new neck, or atleast whored it out for parts on the 'bay... the bridge alone as you said is worth a fair few bob... heck id feckin love that edge... but the new neck idea is what id aim for really, my verdict: restore this baby!

HEY GUYS, HOLD ON A SECOND. THIS GUITAR WASN'T MADE FROM A SPOON, IT MADE FROM TWO FEET.

IT'S CROOKED! THE CENTERLINE IS OFF, THERE'S MORE SPACE ON TOP. THE VOLUME KNOB IS UNDER YOUR PALM AND THE SWITCH IS BEHIND THE BAR. THE TWO HORNS STUCK WAY OUT AND READY TO STAB SOMEONE.

THIS GUITAR IS GOOD FOR HOLDING THE DOOR OPEN.

sorry.

Re: Very sad prestige seven

Go back and buy it. Like you said, the hardware alone is worth the pricetag if you wanted to part it out.

Go. Now.

Hey, theres nothing wrong with the guitar in the picture! He said the guitar he's talking about is not the one in the picture, just the same model. The pic looks like it was taken at a weird angle or with a special lens but theres nothing wrong with that one in the pic

Re: Very sad prestige seven

I say buy it, for 400 bucks it's a steal. I wonder why anyone would attempt a self hack job like that on such a fine guitar.

Get one and get a maple board!

Re: Very sad prestige seven

Yeah that particular picture is just the best googled one I could find for representation.
I probably would go for it now, but I still have most of a USA custom left to pay on the credit card, along with a ton of car repair bills on another. It'll likely be a month or two before I could consider it. Though how much would you guys guess replacing the board would cost?

Re: Very sad prestige seven

I've been quoted around $200 for a fretboard replacement and a refret a few times so I would say you could start with that as a figure.

Re: Very sad prestige seven

At $400, it's probably already priced with a new fretboard and refret in mind. I would go back RIGHT NOW and put down cash before somebody else walks out with it. At the very least, you end up with a Double Edge trem you can transplant into another guitar.
