Vine inlays?

When did Ibanez start doing these? I thought it started with the JEMs but it looks that they were using them at least as far back as '76

Here they are on the randy scruggs signature guitar, the inlays are 99% identical to the ones on the jems!

so what is the history? When guitar did Ibanez first start using them?

Re: Vine inlays?

You know, I just noticed that myself when I read that thread on here with that guy inquiring about that LPish Ibby his co-worker had. I compared the inlay to a modern jem and they're exactly the same. Very cool!

Edit: Yeah that's the one in your link!

Re: Vine inlays?

i have always been drawn to the LP's with the vines! i love the old ibby's unfortunately the whole 2 ply and bolt on neck thing kept me away.

That is one nice guitar (picture on OP).. All Gold really looks classy and Hella expensive...

I always thought they started with the JEM's as well.. learn something new everyday I suppose.

Re: Vine inlays?

I did a bit of research after Ibanez released the twin neck SG looking thing, looked very similar to the OP's link.

I didn't know when they came, but I knew the JEM wasn't first. That's why they're on J-Customs.
