Something like this:
http://w3.one.net/~brentano/studio/ibanezrg7.html

I like it, but it isn't everybody's cup of tea.

(As a side note, I don't think I've ever seen a violin that color...)

That's cuz you've never seen a vintage one! *:biggrin: *j/k

My friend's violin is really nice. *He named it "Amber" if that tells ya anything.

I saw one of these in Manny's in NYC about a year ago ~ maybe more ~ didn't know about j-customs back then or else i would have been more impressed. *Or maybe a little less shocked at the price tag ($2499 i believe?) *

It does have a violinish color...it also looks A LOT like Kev's CST.

That's a Prestige, not a J Custom. ;o}

@bduersch
thanks for the link... i'm looking for a new guitar and dunno what to choose.
i was going for a 3120 but the price is pretty high here (france), so maybe i'll get something like a 2027x or 2120x or even a 1077xl :shoot:

My vintage violin JCRG5 looks nothing like my friends 1600 violin! *My JC is more amber/yellow but in dimmer light it takes on *violin-like brown overtones (not that attractive really). *However in bright light and under in flash photos it looks nice.

Highly recommend a 2027 if you can find one...but you're in Europe so they may still be selling them there. *They are the VV finish as well but minus the maple top so they appear a little darker than the flamed ones...but still gorgeous. *Mahogany seven strings just rule.

Below are some links to pics of my RG2027 and RG7CT - both in VV finish:

Pic 2
Pic 3
Pic 4

As you can see, the finish is awesome on either mahogany or flamed maple.

Here is how it looks in real life!!!!! *

http://members.aol.com/avantguardest...hts/group4.gif *

I thought its pictures were ugly til i saw one for real. (2027) *I bought it on the spot. *Some TZ7 and AN7 dimarzios and well...everyone knows the rest. *Ignore the blue spots on the pic, there was a problem in developement. *

Vintage Violin - a pretty cool color live...that can suit either a smooth jazz show as pictured...or still hang when its truly heavy. *(its gonna make a crazy pair next to my new custom thats done by ATD...)

(more pics of our band at http://avantguarde.net/ )

Based on the pictures people are posting, unless it's just lighting and differences in cameras, I notice that 2027s vary a lot in the finish. *Exotic's 2027 appears much lighter than mine, with a more pronounced burst...mine is dark and pretty consistent all over the top, not much burst at all, if any. *It still is a beautiful guitar. *Tone wise these guitars are everywhere. *I am a big mahogany fan and these guitars deliver the goods from screamin' metal to smooth jazz, even with stock pickups. *I think the stockers sound pretty darn good.

is it just me, or is the RG7CST almost exactly the same as the RG2027x except for the pickups?

...and the 4A flame maple top
...and the inlay(s)
...and the extra finishing steps at the factory
...and the name/moniker. *
Other than that, they're the same. *:-)

The VV finishes are going to vary slightly, only due to how wood accepts stain. *Getting two to be EXACTLY alike is difficult. *Mahogany is going to stain differently than flamed or quilted maple (it's a darker wood to begin with). *Also, different cameras have their settings set differently, different light, different backgrounds...all those affect the variations in each pic. *Don't forget the settings of your monitor will look different than mine...or Kenny's...or Rich's...etc.
