Washburn Serendipity

Hey all,
Though you fellas might like a look at how my old Washburn turned out!
She's my test mule for any mods I think of....she's not exactly standard anymore!
I put her in to my local garage to get sprayed, and when I went to collect her, the guy says "Er, there's been a bit of a reaction..."

But! The more I looked at it the more I liked it! So I had him clearcoat it:

It looks battlescarred! He wanted to get the finish thick enough to fill the cracks, but I prefer it as it is: a bit more 3D!
Please let me know if you would like to see more pics of this one. I converted it from a standard Strat-style fulcrum trem to a floating recessed Floyd Rose. That also meant fitting a locking nut of course! It has a DiMarzio Evo II in the bridge, and singlecoil-sized humbuckers in the middle and neck positions.
Then there's the monkey grip as well.
It's actually become one of my favourite guitars now! Well, fave six-er anyway!
What do you think?

Thanks,
DJ

It looks like the air bubbles you see under pickguard plastic.

I think the guy needs to learn how to paint things.

Re: Washburn Serendipity

I would've fitted an Edge or a LoPro instead.

apparently you have never painted anything. espically with car paints, that guitar was painted with an enamel first and the lacquer of the car paint reacted badly, i doubt he primed it first.

Perhaps Rob has and knows he didn't prime it.

Re: Washburn Serendipity

Haha! No, you're all close but still a bit wrong!
The guy that sprayed it is an expert, he owns his own panel beating and spraying business.
What happened was: I sprayed the body with a can of white paint, just the regular stuff you get in any auto store. When he sprayed the black primer over it, it caused the reaction. Something about solvents. So it was my own fault, but I knew that from the start! Still, ya live and learn eh?
Turned out all good in the end though.

You never said that in the first place. Rule of thumb is if you have someone paint something for you, let them do everything from start to finish.
