What body wood has my RG470 LEFTHANDED???

I have an RG 470L lefthanded with Edge trem 93 model. The bodywood is much heavier than my RG 560L and RG550L *very close to the weight of my RG3120LTW.

Looking at the colour of the wood in the neck joint/scarf (where you attach the neck), the RG470 looks much more darker than the basswood ones.

What kind of wood could it be? Basswood (weird colour though) or mahogany or what..?

The body is indeed basswood. Weight can vary, depending on the tree.

Cheers,

Rg470's [even lefties] come with basswood as standard, so it's basswood unless someone fitted a replacement body.

Thankīs for your replies.
Well itīs basswood then, however weird that this body has a WAY better sustain and tone than my RG560s body. (I compared using the exact same neck, pickups and same brand of strings on both of them).

Well, that's how much the woods vary from tree to tree. That's the reason why 'duds' come out from time to time, with very horrible sonic characteristics.

Anyway, congrats on the great basswood you encountered!! Now put an Edge on the baby and rock away
