What fixed bridge Ibanez ?

Hi.

I'm looking for a Ibanez with a fixed bridge.

I'm wondering what guitars do you recommend ?

I'm a guitar teacher, always played Les Paul's and Fenders but
I got carpal tunnel syndrome a year ago and I need a thin neck
and something that's easy to play.

The RG321MH seems good but it's so cheap...
Wich makes me think it's not good but it maybe great...
I once had a PGM and I really liked that but I'm looking for
something a little less money.

Why don't they make a prestige model with a fixed bridge ?

Thanks.

Re: What fixed bridge Ibanez ?

If you want to go cheap on a fixed bridge Ibanez an RG321 (mahogany) or RG3EX1 (basswood) would be a good choice, there are a few more similar models of similar quality that I can't think of off hand right now. Just try to play it in person, because the fret work and overall quality control can be random on these. Same with any guitar really.

They may be cheap, but find one that's set up properly with no fretbuzz and I think you'll be surprised by what you can get for your money. About the comfort/feel, Ibanez necks are very flat and thin, but they are also wide. Have you tried an Ibanez with a Wizard II neck?

The new Ibanez SA's have the SAT Pro II or whatever its called which is like the Strat style bridge in that it only dives down but looks like a stop tail. Brand new they sell for about $450ish if I recall. Thin too.

I actually had a RG321, and I thought it was a great guitar for the money.

Ive got the 321MH/mol and its a good guitar for less than $300. The pickups are kinda lacking but that can be changed.

Re: What fixed bridge Ibanez ?

Thanks guys, I'll go to my Ibanez dealer and see what he has.

Since I'm a total floating bridge newbie I have to ask.

If you have a floating bridge and you play one song in regular tuning.
The next song in drop d and then the next one with everything half step down.
Doesn't it take forever to tune ?
A fixed bridge is not a issue for me it's just that I don't know how the Ibanez floating
bridge works and if it's really hard to retune your guitar.

You can't retune a floating trem on the fly because of the change in string/spring tension. Properly set up, the bridge would be parallel to the face of the guitar with the string tension equalled by the springs at the back. If you drop the pitch of the string the balance is lost, the trem angle is lost messing with the action. You *could* block off the trem but that's kinda defeating the object of a floating trem.

Re: What fixed bridge Ibanez ?

There's a very good fixed bridge model for the japanese market, the rg1521.
It's a Prestige and it doesn't costs too much also considering the shipping.
You can try to contact shop like Ishibashi.

I would recommend an RGA121.

I was just going to suggest that ^. An RGA would be sweet (and probably exactly what you're looking for).
