Question What is this guitar? :)

Hi all, came across this on a website- http://www.hartnollguitars.co.uk/products.aspx?id=7604

Was wondering what you could all tell me about it? Going to try it next week as I need a new fixed bridge guitar for hard rock- metal. How will it be compared to a js100 with dimarzios in it? (Current guitar)

Thanks for any info as I know nothing about these! Is that a good price etc.
Cheers

Re: What is this guitar? :)

It's Simply an Ibanez SZ, It hs the look of an S series, but no thin tapaer toward the edges. Almost ALL (if not ALL) SZ's were hardtail or T-O-M. It might have a thicker neck like the JS100 but the pickups are not Dimarzios, they are just Ibanez made.

Re: What is this guitar? :)

Hmm, I'm really looking for a decent second hand rock and metal guitar and this is looking like a fairly bottom end guitar... despite being Jap made. Please let me know if you guys disagree!

And thank you! though it does look identical to a 2000 420BK... :P

The SC's are definitely thinner than the SZ (i know cuz I have one). It's like the bastard son of an SZ and a Saber.

The only real differences between the 320 and the 420 are the pickups and rings. Some say the 420 has a different neck profile, but I haven't been able to find ANY info proving it. It could just be talk. The 320 is a fine guitar, and exceptionally good for the prices they sell at.

Re: What is this guitar? :)

So what do you guys think of it as a hard rock and metal guitar for 460 (Is it worth this much?)? How are the pickups and are there other things I should look at? Also do any of you know either what they originally sold for or what kind of equivalent money would a new version of similar quality cost?

Many thanks!

Re: What is this guitar? :)

I love the S series, personnaly much better than the RG. My Sabers have great Rock and metal tones, you got to love mahogany. I am in the US but the price seems a bit high for that guitar. You should be able to do better by 100 or more (I would think).

Also, the newer Sabers with the ZR trem are almost like having a hard tail, not quite but almost. Most double stop bends sound perfect due to the ZR's stability. I fact even though the bridge is psuedo free floating you can easily drop d without to much affect on the other strings. Just a thought.
