What guitar is this? 36 frets?

Hi folks, i'm in dire need of you all saving me from going insane here. I saw this guitar

http://www.racerxband.com/pictures/8...s/racerx32.jpg

on the Racer X website but have also saw one of these (or one like it, I think it had 36 frets?) at my local guitar shop about a year ago. I have been searching the net for hours trying to find information on them or how much they sell for etc. Problem is I don't even know the manufacturer of them. I only seem to have found a 36 fret washburn but it doesn't look anything like it! Can some one rescue me please.
Cheers,

Dave

Re: What guitar is this? 36 frets?

Me thinks it's a Jerry Jones - Longhorn. A Danelectro look-a-like.

It's 30 frets. Seems like they are no longer being made. That auction site might help you out with some pics/specs. Also, I read something Paul said about that guitar, he didn't remember what the O stood for, but the X was from Racer X, and I think that is an old Danelectro. Not a Jerry Jones.

Should have seen it before. The coke bottle headstock is Danelectro. Jerry Jones use a similar, but not exact headstock. There has been copyright issues between these manufacturers, but I'm not sure if that also was about the headstock.

Wow....I barely know what to do with 22 and 24 frets. I'd be completely and utterly lost with 36. I probably couldn't even get my fingers in there because the frets would be so small....

Yep, it's a Jerry Jones or Danelectro. They're damn near identical.

Thanks guys that's helped out loads, at least I have some names to look for now. Does anyone happen to know of any sites or pictures of these. I have googled it but can't find much and have also checked out our evil bay. Please PM me if you see a link to an aution or somewhere one is being sold if it can't be put up here.

It's a Danelectro.

The guy who bought it from Paul, can be found here.

Here's Paul response on the Racer X board.

Damn! You got a cool one.

I`ll miss her, but I`m glad she`s in a place where she`ll be loved.

By the way, if you find a really old issue of GUITAR WORLD (around `87) there is a feature on Bruce and me. The headline is DRILLER KILLER and there is a two page picture of Bruce and me with the drill. A couple pages into the article is a picture of me playing your guitar BEFORE I had it painted with the X`s and O`s.

The guitar has an unusual feel because of the body shape and 36 frets, but if you plug it in, the tone is KILLER.

Treat her well,

Paul

mee too. i play a 22 fret and even stepping up to a 24 fret is hard for me, 36 would be mind boggoling.
