What have I done....RG/N4/R1 cross breed...what the!

I had a spare RG 520 body and RG 550 neck laying around along with an assortment of Japanese hardware - pieces such as an Edge Lo Pro trem system. I am in between builds of an RG Donnie and also working on getting a DNA of sorts. In between trying to get the swirl sorted and the painting on the Donnie completed I thought that I would work this up.

I wanted to try and bulid up a rustic RG (finished in Tung oil) and have nothing really complicated but have really good parts on the guitar (a real player)/ I found the N4 sticker online and the guitar kind of reminded me of an N4 so I stuck it on for a laugh. I would like to get an 'R' and a '1' in the same font to make it an 'R1' rather than an N4 but hey it will do for now.

Pickups will be Dimarzio Breeds - they are on order and once they are in I will string it up and let it loose. I also have a black Dimarzio clip lock strap and a nut on the way too.

Hopefully the guitar will be finished by the end of the week.

Be careful--Nuno may come a knockin'--that IS waaaaaay better looking than the Washburn!

I could never quite see myself with a 'real' Washburn - you saw them reasonably often in Australia in the 90s but I don't see them in shops that often these days (maybe I'm just not looking too hard). To me, apart from the N series they just never seemed to be that higher end. I am possibly and probably very wrong, but just my initial observation.

So, in saying that, maybe Ibanez could get Nuno on contract - it would be interesting to see a factory RG, based around his N4.....

I was kind of going for a more beat up look - seems I am going to have to do a bit more damage to it (well the body anyway - the neck is mint)!

tung oil always looks classy. It's simple and understated yet eye catching.

Yep, I'm hearing ya. There the only scars worth anything.

However, I will set fire to it next time I'm doing a set at woodstock
