What model is this?

Picking this up off my brother at the weekend, had it about 10 years and i aquierd it when he gave up playing and i had it for about 8 years then he decided he wanted to learn again and took it back anyway i'm buying it off him now so it will be mine for ever but he says its an RG470, yet i found this image saying its a 547? never heard of that one? anyway i was just wondering what the actual finish was called? the paintwork looks a bit tatty around the edges now unfortunately but, hey, its about 11 years old! would it rude to refinish it and cover that lovely grain? i've refinished guitars before including translucent finishes but i'm dying to try out a fabric covering on one.

Yep I think that's the Rootbeer finish RG547 from the mid 90s, the RG548 was similar but had gold hardware.

It's a rare ash bodied RG, enjoy.

Re: What model is this?

Man I searched for one of those in the natural finish and could never find one.

Nice score.
