What model Ibanez is this?

The guitar Scott Henderson used to play....

Sorry, couldn't really find a better pic. I did a search on this site using Henderson, didn't find anything. I seached the catalogs Rich has posted on his site. Around that time, they show Scott with a 540s. But they look nothing like the guitar above. Did the 540s ever have a pickguard? I do remember a jemsite member posting pictures of a guitar that had the "Custom Made" inlay at the top fret. I can't find that thread.

Crazy knobs on it, but I'm sure Scott did that himself, along with the synth device behind the bridge. At any rate, any help would be appreciated. I really like this guitar.

Re: What model Ibanez is this?

It would be a custom but looks like it's based on an RG440.

This is why I like this site. I never knew there was such a thing. Here is a RG440 I found from images from this site.

Same exact guitar, or same model? I thought the blue and red were two different guitars. By the way, thanks for the link to the vid , kind sir.

Re: What model Ibanez is this?

In 1987 there was a brief period when they changed the Roadstars so the pickguard was more strat-like, and the little "nubs" on the tips of the cutaways were removed. That's Scott Henderson's body. The neck has a 21st fret block inlay, like the Holdsworth had, I'm sure that is custom. I mean, everything is customized I'm just saying where the body shape came from and the basic "type" of guitar it is, which is an '87 Roadstar, not an S or R.

They are two different guitars, I believe. It is two different colors, I only asked because maybe you knew he had the guitar repainted. I've seen the red one in other videos. Furthermore, it's at least a different headstock as the red has the check in the logo and the blue does not.

Here is a video of Scott with the blue one. Go to 6:05 in the video for a good look.

Re: What model Ibanez is this?

Right, 1987 stratty shaped pickguard (along the bass side) instead of teardrop shaped Roadstar. Straight headstock, like the Satriani is from 1986-87 era too. Can't read the 21st fret inlay though...The guitar is more purple than blue. They had purple Roadstars, and the closest blue they had to purple was the Jewel Blue that appeared around 1988 on the Radius and RG5xx. Scott's is not Jewel Blue. Though I'm sure it's not the same color as this, and doesn't appear to be metallic, it's more like this old Roadstar color "Royal Violet":

http://www.ibanez.co.jp/anniversary/...t_id=119&now=6

Even if it wasn't a stock Ibanez color I'm sure Scott could have had it painted or asked for a "purple" guitar and they shot it purple.

Pickguard routed for H/S/H but the Roadstar bodies all had universal routes underneath (like H/H/H) otherwise just add a midi pickup and you're there!
