What pickup config. would you put into an RG760?

I am in the process of refinishing a old RG760, but wanted some advice on what pickups H-S-S I should consider. I love the sound of an Evolution in the bridge position, but have two guitars with that setup already. I also have a strat with YJM's installed and I hate them to death!!!! You seriously have to change your picking attack to make them come alive on my gear. I am trying to avoid weaker output pups, but know little about single coil pickups. Basically, could you recommend a different hum and two single coils with a quick description? I want to stay within the Dimarzio family of pups as well.
Thanks!

Re: What pickup config. would you put into an RG760?

howdy fellow 760 player... I have a 760 and upgraded the neck/bridge pickups. Evo bridge + FS-2 neck. I know you'd want a different pickup than the Evo... perhaps a TZ or D-Sonic might suit your tastes? Maybe an Evo-2? I had a TZ on the 760 before I got an Evo and well... the TZ sounded good, oomphy and subtle hints of bite... but the Evo was closer to the tone I was looking for - lots of bite that screams
the FS-2 on the neck is technically the single coil equivalent of the Steve's Special; however, on the neck, it sounds sweet and even "fluid" and way louder than the stocks but that "scooped" sound is prominent with the twangy-ness of a single coil. As for recommendations, i'd definitely look at the dual blade single coils for the neck: Chopper, Cruiser, FS-1... maybe have two of the same p/u's in the neck and middle? I've been checking into the Virtual Vintage Solo Pro and Heavy Blues models and the descriptions sound interesting...
hope this helps... enjoy p/u shopping

Reg

I have a 770DX with Tonezone in bridge and PAF Pro in neck. I love it, it's a killer combo.

I just put a Virtual Vintage Solo Pro in my Melody Maker. It's a cool little pickup, but not a true single coil.

I also have a 770 with a Tone Zone in the bridge but am considering putting a Humbucker from Hell in the neck, more of a Gilbert set up.

i have 760, right now, i'll keep the original IBZ-USA F2- C1-C1 on it.

if i have to change the pickups, i'll go this way :
a. dimarzio Super 3, fasttrack 1, fasttrack II ( neck)
b. Seymour duncan TB 6, lil 59, hot rails ( neck)

are they wired the same way like a dual blade single coil(4-wire) or do you mean it doesn't sound like a *true single coil*?

Mega Drive, Blue Velvet, ProTrack.

That would be a sweet combo.

Re: What pickup config. would you put into an RG760?

Thanks for the responses, everyone. I was thinking of painting the guitar Lime green with a black headstock and lime green vinyl Ibanez decal under the clear.
pups would either be yellow with black hardware or some other color, and having a clear pick guard made. Any other suggestions on pups and color schemes that would look nice? Thanks!

If it helps, the Protrack is a godly neck pup. My favorite ATM.

Its a stacked humbucker, not a true single coil.

Close on (a)

My 760 has:

Bridge: Dimarzio Super 3
Middle: Dimarzio Pro Track
Neck: Dimarzio Fast Track 2

I can get just about any sound I want out of this thing. I used the stock 5-way switch "creatively" to get more classic sounds out of positions 2 and 4, because technically the Pro Track and Fast Track 2 are humbuckers.

how does one wire 3 "hums" with the stock 5-way? does position 2 or 4 tap certain coils of the pickup or how does it work?

I will have to check into this combo. It sounds interesting.
What do you you guys think of a Breed in the bridge? From reading they seem a little smoother than the Evo's, but I have never played a guitar with them in it.
