What RG is this? I need facts :)

Greetings

I've bought a used guitar via **** and thought it was an RG550. But when I received it, I realized it wasn't. I've some pictures for you:

http://ncg58.eden5.netclusive.de/andy/wtf2.JPG

The trem is a low-trs and the Pickups are AH1 and AH2, the singlecoil in the middle has no description.

The serialnumber is: F9921159 and it is made in Japan.
The headstock says only RG Series.

So I would like to know what neck it is and what it was its price and what is worth. BTW. it has an all access neck.

Greetings from Germany
I'm looking forward to your answers

Andy

The neck looks like MIJ. Post pic of the jack barrel, MIJ's are different than MIK's. Maybe it is RG550, just the guy changed the trem. Ask him for the original bridge or send it back and report to **** if it wasn't written in the description.

Maybe it is moded RG470, but I am not sure if the Japanese versions had Lo TRS.

Late japanese model did have a LO-TRS bridge (read not LO-TRS II), the LO-TRS is slightly better than the Korean II model

I'm pretty sure the Japanese RG470 had V series pickups though?

Looks like an RG450LTD. I remember selling that model years ago.

Re: What RG is this? I need facts :)

well I already got it cheaper because I told him the facts
I like this guitar really especially the neck but the Trem goes out of tune if I do upbends I checked the knife edges and they don't look that good anymore

if I install a Schaller Floyd Rose everything might be perfect for me right? or should I sell it and get a real 550 with lo pro edge? because i bought that guitar because i wanted something with a real good floyd

my first guitar was a mex strat and I wanted something with which I could do crazy whammy stuff

I think it would be better (and cheaper) to sell it and buy second hand RG550 instead of buying new trem for this guitar.

Re: What RG is this? I need facts :)

It probably would be cheaper, but it depends on how much you like the neck. Some people prefer the Wizard II necks than the Wizard and Super Wizard necks found on the RG5xx series. If you really like the neck, then just get a better trem, or just go sharpen them

If it's a Japanese made RG it will have the Wizard neck anyway wouldn't it?

I'd just go for an OFR, Schaller or Gotoh floyd and it would be sweet! Gotoh is a little cheaper but is a fantastic trem, they make the Ibanez bridges on the Japanese models.

Re: What RG is this? I need facts :)

You should just return it as the seller has misrepresented the item and it is your right.

And this is an MIJ RG450LTD with swapped pickups. And MIJ RGs also came with Wizard II necks.

Re: What RG is this? I need facts :)

The crazy thing is, I recently got a MIJ RG450DX and it plays better than almost every guitar I've ever owned (that includes half of the Jems available.) It really IS true what they say about Japanese guitars.

If you like how it plays, get the trem sharpened up and then enjoy!

Oh, and I'm not sure about anyone else, but I put an edge trem bar in the TRS and it doesn't feel a million miles away at all (keeps rock solid tune too.)

Yeah that's a great guitar, possibly with quality aftermarket pickups. I wouldn't be selling it. If you got it that cheap, and you decide to sell it, list it here first.

Ok thank you all.
I think I will install a new trem on it and enjoy it ;D

Re: What RG is this? I need facts :)

Despite being an RG4xx series, the overall quality is on par with the RG5xx, it just has an inferior trem. Not so with the 2003 RG4xx. They came with Edge Pro.

Re: What RG is this? I need facts :)

Since both the neck and neck pocket (barely) appear to say RG480, I'd say it's an RG480, right? It's not from the American market, but Ibanez has put out tons of models we never see in catalogs in the States. Although I can't seem to find any pics to see what a stock one would look like though. I think Eddie from EKG has an RG580 from Japan that has 3 surface mounted pups, so the pickguard is the only thing that makes me wonder about this one.

Here's the wiring diagram from Ibanez.com:
