Country of production should be a major clue.

China! 4 mm.

Thanks Rich

So now that we know that my Ibanez and ESP are metric and 4 mm works on both, the next size up is 5 mm and they didn't fit. There was some play in the 4 mm allen wrench and since there's no 4.5 mm wrench the 4 mm will have to do...when the guitar was new the included wrench didn't have any markings and it appears to be a 4 mm instead of the slightly smaller imperial 5/32" inch allen wrench.

From your site it appears some allen wrench holes are 5 mm as on a certain Satch model but others are 4 mm. But then there are the hex nut wrenches (6, 7 mm or more) for adjusting truss rods and that gets into a whole other set of tools I don't have to have yet.

Now that I have started working with the truss rod during the seasons and getting slightly better action, I just didn't want to start stripping the allen wrench hole since finding allen nuts and even getting them out is a hassle if youtube is to be believed. I wish there was a weather region that made it unnecessary to have to adjust the truss rod but for now I will have to endure the seasons and the havoc it puts on the instruments.
