I used slinky's and super slinky's my whole life.......
That was until I found Curt Mangan strings. I have my own custom gauge ( 9.5-48 ) plain third, pure nickel sets.
Before ordering my own custom sets, I use a few packs of nickel wound 9's and 10's, a stainless 10-46 set, and a nickel wound 11-58 7-string set. All of these together convinced me that there is no better string than Curt Mangans.......why?
The price to performance ratio makes these very cheap.
Break-in time is significantly less than the slinky's
These strings have a warmer tone and FAR better sustain than slinky's or D'addario.
They seem to last about 10% longer than any other string I've used.
You can custom order sets in the exact gauges you want.... no more buying individual strings and trying to keep them organized.
Their shipping is very fast and customer service is second to none........ you actually get a real person on the phone if you call. They've even called me to make sure I was getting the sets that I wanted.
IMO, If your not using Mangan strings- your throwing your $$ away. XL120's sell for $6.89 a set. The comparable Mangans (nickel wound 9-42) are $6.58 a set.
I pay $9.15/set for my own custom sets, but come-on...... they have my name on them!!!!
