what STRINGS do you recommend for your Ibby?

what brand of strings and what sizes would you recommend that I use for my RG350 and RG370?

Doesn't matter. You can use whatever you please.

I use D'addario 10-46. Or 10-52

Re: what STRINGS do you recommend for your Ibby?

same as above answer.

strings come to your own preference.

I play D'addario XL for almost forever.
for guitars tune in E standard, it would be 09-42 gauge.
for guitars tune in Eb, it would be 0.95-44 gauge.

on my ESP, it's cleartone coated strings attached ( standard factory equipped).
but once it's finished, gonna replace it d'addario xl too.

why do I love d'addario ?
1. easy to find, not to worry about continuity of supply.
2. feels right to my hands.

is it easy to break?
no... i can't remember when is the last time I break a string during playing.
I remember I broke high E string during tuning, it's because of bad tuning machine, nothing to do with the strings.

I use XL 9s or 10s a lot, too and they hold up pretty well. I also like Ernie Ball 9s or 10s.

For faster stuff and most trems the 9s are good but the 10s, or even 11s, are good for jazz on fixed bridge instruments. I have 9-42s or 10-46s on ESP solidbody and 10-46 on Ibby Artcore.

Re: what STRINGS do you recommend for your Ibby?

I'm fairly new to this, I've only been playing a couple of years so I've only tried two different brands so far.
My boyfriend LOVES the Ernie Ball strings. I tried them on my guitars at first then when I tried the D'addario I fell in love with them.
They don't feel as stiff and I think they have a somewhat warmer sound, at least on my guitars.
But what do I know?
As stated; it's all to taste.

Re: what STRINGS do you recommend for your Ibby?

I used to think that there wasn't a whole lot of difference between the main string companies until I tried these and I haven't bought anything else since...they cost a little more but man are they worth it...

Re: what STRINGS do you recommend for your Ibby?

I used slinky's and super slinky's my whole life.......

That was until I found Curt Mangan strings. I have my own custom gauge ( 9.5-48 ) plain third, pure nickel sets.

http://www.curtmangan.com/12-x-custo...ignature-sets/

Before ordering my own custom sets, I use a few packs of nickel wound 9's and 10's, a stainless 10-46 set, and a nickel wound 11-58 7-string set. All of these together convinced me that there is no better string than Curt Mangans.......why?

The price to performance ratio makes these very cheap.

Break-in time is significantly less than the slinky's

These strings have a warmer tone and FAR better sustain than slinky's or D'addario.

They seem to last about 10% longer than any other string I've used.

You can custom order sets in the exact gauges you want.... no more buying individual strings and trying to keep them organized.

Their shipping is very fast and customer service is second to none........ you actually get a real person on the phone if you call. They've even called me to make sure I was getting the sets that I wanted.

IMO, If your not using Mangan strings- your throwing your $$ away. XL120's sell for $6.89 a set. The comparable Mangans (nickel wound 9-42) are $6.58 a set.

I pay $9.15/set for my own custom sets, but come-on...... they have my name on them!!!!

Re: what STRINGS do you recommend for your Ibby?

Those Mangans you sent me are very nice. I have to look into if shipping them to me in Australia is cost effective. I might need to try them a bit more.

Re: what STRINGS do you recommend for your Ibby?

I pay $31.99 for 10 sets of XL120. Mangan must play by themselves, and do it good, to be worth the extra money.

D'Addario XL120, for years. Never looked at anything else. Just go with something you can find everywhere, saves a few headaches.
