What would you get?

Let's say you're on a budget and you can either choose a non-prestige instrument from rich with a silver/gold level package, or a prestige instrument with no package. Which would you pick?

Re: What would you get?

Non prestige w/package since I only see/hear good things about Rich

Re: What would you get?

I'd save up and get the Prestige with one of Rich's packages.

I've never bought a guitar from Rich (although I hope to this year) but I think I would agree with Boombatty's theory...the perfect setup can make a non-prestige guitar play better than a prestige guitar that was not set-up properly...but then if you bought the prestige guitar without the package you could always get the set up done later - but then it wouldnt be by Rich, and I hear he does masterful setups...it's a tough call but my gut feeling is that I would probably go with the non-prestige with the package...

Re: What would you get?

This is a tough call, I wouldn't even have an answer. Nothing leaves with problems and everything leaves very playable, but Silver package is what I always recomend on anything, that is an instrument. Not everbody needs an instrument though, many times just a guitar will do.

Re: What would you get?

I mean no disrespect to Rich's setups but I'd rather have a higher quality instrument than a higher quality setup for the same price... I do my own fretwork and all that myself though, so it depends on what you yourself value more and how capable you are...

Re: What would you get?

Thanks for all your replies! I'm kinda alright with doing my own setups (haven't tried doing any fretwork aside from minor polishing yet). Guess I'll have to think about this some more. I like what Rich said about instruments vs guitars though... I'll keep that in mind

Re: What would you get?

I own two guitars with Rich's setups and used to own a third. I'd go with a Premium with a setup package over a not set up guitar.
