What was your dream guitar as a NOOB?

and what is it now? and after how long from then until now?

i was asking myself this question after i saw the evolution of the JS series video on ibanez's site and seeing the 1995 catalog shot and remembering that back in that time, the 2 dream guitars for me were a js100bk and a jackson stealth ex in black in old musician's friend catalogs...ah, the metal years!

now, 15 years later, i would much rather play my rgt3120 and rg7ct than either of those 2. having played several JS's from js100's to js2000's and just about everything in between. i settled down with a js700 for the P90's and mahogany body. this was only after finding that a killer tone like this was available with this combo from a tom anderson cobra.
my dream guitar now would have to be a tom anderson drop top with floyd and HH or a warrior soldier. i have a prs custom 22 i love dearly, but it is still not a dream guitar by any stretch of the imagination.

let's hear your stories...nostalgia awaits!

Well I only first became a noob in 2007 (and still am, sorta), but my dream guitar then and still now is a JS1200CA.

Re: What was your dream guitar as a NOOB?

When I started, I wanted a Les Paul Custom and a Jackson Rhoads. I eventually scored a mid-70s LP and loved it. I outgrew the desire for a Jackson after playing a copy and realizing I'd hit the fins on *everything*. My first guitar hero was Randy Rhoads, so that's where I got the idea that I wanted those.

Over time, I've played and owned a variety of guitars from different manufacturers. I keep coming back to Ibanez because they just...feel right.

Now, it's the same guitar I've wanted most of my guitar playing life - a UVMC. I have a UV7PWH, and it's like owning a slice of heaven, but I still want an ATD UV.

Re: What was your dream guitar as a NOOB?

it was 1988 farringdon workmans club in sunderland when my journey with guitars began.never thought about playing guitar but loved rock music.so here i was sitting in a rough workmans club and the gig that night was a band called six of the best, great turn this band was.so the guitarist came out to do his sound check,up he steps with a gleaming prestine 777dy, i was blown away by its beauty.i dreamed of owning a 777dy for 21 years, every time i bought a new guitar in the back of my mind was wish i could get my mits one of those gorgeous neon yellow guitars.so 21 years later i have a 777vdy,its not a 777dy but its still gorgeous and illouminous.can now die a happy man

Going way back in time here, but, the first 20 seconds of the 'Talk Dirty To Me' video by Poison (1986).

have had several students with that guitar. they love them to pieces. i dig it as well, but i have a 540 radius that is near and dear to me and is setup more for me.
lovely axe, the js1200 is. very classy beauty. i am a sucker for candy apple guitars anyway...50's strats in particular!

Re: What was your dream guitar as a NOOB?

I'd love an LR-10 as well, but a Gibson ES-347 would make a nice second choice in a pinch

Re: What was your dream guitar as a NOOB?

Probably a '59 Les Paul, but I also had eyes for the 777DYs on the pawnshop walls in my town.

I recently bought a '91 777DY. I'm thinking that it'd be appropriate if the next one in line was an R9 (aka 1959 Les Paul reissue).

The PAW Universe and Black Dog - I used to spend ages looking at those guitars on the inlays of my copies of PAW and Flying In A Blue Dream (on cassette )

Re: What was your dream guitar as a NOOB?

Randy Rhoads was my guitar hero back in the day and I always wanted his polka dot V. I guess since then my taste has changed and were I love my prs 513 I think Im still searching for different sounds and cant say that one guitar does it all for me?

Re: What was your dream guitar as a NOOB?

As a Kiss fan, the dream guitar back in 1979 was a Sunburst Les Paul Custom or an Iceman. I touched my first LP, a white custom in the early 80's and new it was love. My parents bought me an Ibanez LP for my 13th birthday and that sealed the deal (and was the best of both worlds).

Having been through a few LP's now, I think I've found my life partner in the Slash production model LP standard.

Re: What was your dream guitar as a NOOB?

Hohner "The Jack" headless - advertising was so powerful to young impressionables until I played one! NO THANKS!!!
Then I saw the Jem and my mate got one first. It was 999 and I could only afford upto 575 for a Jackson/Charvel Model4A. Then onto a Jackson Dinky. Then onto a RG3120. Then onto a Jem7VWH ebony f/b. Then a UV777BK. Then onto another 7VWH rosewood f/b. Then RGA121 to try out (s-hit). Then my latest Jem 7VRB. I'm now no noob
