Whats the difference bteween the rg1820x, and the rg2120x?

What are the key differences, and how do they effect sound, and playability?

Thanks

Re: Whats the difference bteween the rg1820x, and the rg2120x?

Actually there are two different RG2120X models: the 2002 model has a Lo Pro Double Edge tremolo and V7 and V8 pickups, the 2003 model has an Double Edge Pro and DiMarzio/IBZ pickups. The RG1820X has a Double Edge Pro with V7 and V8 pickups.

Other differences are:
the neck shape: Ultra (2120) v.s. Wizard (1820). The Ultra neck is a teeny bit thicker.
Body wood: Mahogany (2120) v.s. Basswood (1820).

So, assuming it's a 2003 2120x, and the pickups are replaced on both models, the only real difference would be the tone from the wood, and the finish?

And the neck shape. The body wood does have some influence tone wise. Usually mahogany sounds a lot thicker with more lows. There should be more information about the whole basswood vs. mahogany thing on this forum.
