What's this RG on craigslist? ID help needed please.

So here's an interesting ad for an RG on craigslist:

http://nh.craigslist.org/msg/3795184462.html

98 serial number . . . V7/V8 humbuckers, no single coil. . . edge bridge . . . rosewood board . . . hard-to-see dark color . . . I looked at the 1998 catalog and I'm thinking RG520GP?

Any other thoughts? The guitar has been neglected; there's corrosion and tarnish visible on the hardware and the fretboard is filthy. But it's cheap.

Thanks!

Peace

Mike

Hell yeah man..... $200 is stealing it if the neck ain't broke. FWIW... the neck alone is worth $175 or more........ That's a Super Wizard.

It's an RG520QS TB:

Offer him a 100. It has been beat to hell. Look at the headstock, fret board filth, and rust and pitting on hardware.

I got lucky on CL and snagged a Prestige 1570 grey and two dings on the back. Small ones.

That's pretty damn filthy. If you can get it cheap enough it would make a good project guitar though!

The wear and tear is what makes it cool, it been played, got mojo, snap it up.

I don't understand why abuse, neglect, and generally not taking care of your stuff is "mojo", "relic", and "soul" lol. The guitar is 15 years old, not 55 haha.

^ I'm with you.

Buy it and sink more money into it (over time, of course) to make it go from abused high quality to fu*king awesome!

Re: What's this RG on craigslist? ID help needed please.

Thanks everyone for the identification and the good advice. I missed it by a few hours.

I probably would've bought it barring any neck warp or other severe issues, but as it was I was on the fence. Nice model, but this particular guitar was just beat up. It'll need a fair bit of work. But good luck to the new owner!

Peace

Neglected? Seems like it, but beat up? Not realy! Doesn't look like she had any bumps or major marks.

Anyway, a good tune-up and a good cleaning would have make her pretty awesome!!

That's what I saw too. If not cleaning is abuse, then I abuse all of my guitars.

I'm gonna disagree here. I don't keep my guitars spotless either - I play them too much! But THAT guitar looked like it had been sitting uncovered in a garage for years. That level of neglect often has damage beyond just needing a good cleaning. Rust and pitting that may require replacement hardware, and if it was left sitting at tension all that time, in different temps & humidity, there a good chance the neck has some wonky issues by now.

Still would have been worth a shot as a project guitar but I think neglect at that level likely caused more than just dirt and any buyer should go into it expecting such a probability...
