What's similar to a sabre (or S series) but CHEAP?

Friend of my wife is looking for a guitar. I'm giving her a lesson every now & again and she's getting pretty good pretty fast. She likes the SC420 that she borrowed from my wife, but isn't sure if she wants to spend the $300-400 I said it would cost for one on eBay.

So, I'm looking for options. I'm looking for thin & light. Preferably fixed bridge, but traditional trem would do. No locking trems. She likes the short scale over my 25.5" axes. I thought of:

SCA220 - IIRC, a little heavier & less sculpted, but not bad.
SA160 - 25.5" scale, but doable
GSA20/60 - Getting too cheesy here, huh?

I would think of other brands, too. Jackson Stealth is cool, but most have locking trems, thin necks, and 25.5" scale. Any other light & thin (or contoured) axes out there?

I have often wondered about this myself. Till Ibanez decides to reissue the SC series, I treasure my precious SA160.

What about a Hofner Shorty? Very affordable and light, I haven't tried one yet, but I intend to buy one online.

Ibanez has SA120, which is similar to SA160 and cheaper, with two HB instead an HSS configuration.

Also some Epiphone SG models could fit the bill. I have been thinking of an Elitist 61 myself, but I believe G400 is quite close for less money.

Could you please post a link to a picture of a Jackson Stealth? I can't find one on the Jackson site.

How about a Daisy Rock Retro-H? They're 24 3/4" scale, and have semi-hollow bodies of basswood, so they're probably pretty nice in the weight department. And i've heard lots of good things about the Daisy Rock instruments.

They don't make them anymore, but you still see them on eBay. Basically a copy of a 540S, and a good one at that, but basswood instead of mahogany. REALLY light.

Here's a few auctions that you can see before they go away...

Thanks, they look pretty interesting.

I have been thinking of Daisy Rock guitars too, but I believe their neck is very narrow, quite the opposite of a typical Ibanez.
