Auction 280960445758. It is described as Fluorescent Yellow. The Ibanez Wiki lists DY as a color choice, not Fluorescent Yellow. Is this a UK only edition? thanks ^ ^

I'm sure it's DY and the guy just doesn't know the appropriate color designation.

There were no DY's (or any other yellow's) in the '97-2001 550's. This one has a '99 serial, it's it's probably a 99 or 2000. I'd stay away as this looks like a parts guitar.

FWIW....the re-issues came out in 2007....not '99

There were some late 90's RG550DY's, catalog or not. I'm not sure if it was a spot run or what. And I've seen them referred to as "reissues," tho they're obviously not REALLY reissues. That's probably what he's referring to. It's definitely not the 20th.

Search auction # 160614256899 for an OLD auction (can't believe there's still pics up) for a 1998 RG550DY.

Perhaps an RG505? I'm probably wrong but I believe some of those came in DY with that green pickguard.

But it could just be an RG550DY with a different pickguard.

As for the color he called it, don't let that worry you. Desert Sun Yellow is a very fluorescent shade of yellow. He probably doesn't know that there's a specific name for it. No need in being too specific

Lol. I know what you mean. Always something new, or I forget about something I was looking for years ago, then see one again (usually right AFTER it gets sold!) and it starts all over.

Thanks for the info guys, and thanks TAorama for the link to that other auction. That's the only other pics I've seen of that glowing yellow of an RG550 reissue. I did a search for "reissue" here on Jemsite and found two threads about the RG550 reissue but their picture links were long gone.
