Whats the word on the Epiphone Les Paul 7 String?

Might be thinking of getting my hands on one of this, perhaps getting a Blaze Custom for the bridge and a Duncan Jazz for the neck...

Re: Whats the word on the Epiphone Les Paul 7 String?

I have one...it's a beautiful guitar, and I'm really happy with it. But I did change all electrical and tuners, bridge and everything like that for gibson parts, cause the ones that come standard r all pretty bad quality. I have a Lundgren Model M in the bridge and a TZ in the neck. Loves my Lundgren!

It's a 24 3/4 inch scale length. I've always considerewd that to be way too short for a 7-string. I might use it for some raised tuinings or adding a high A though.

Does Gibson make 7-string tune-o-matic bridges and stop-tailpieces?

You do have a point there Jim, i also happen to use a 27 inch Ibanez (2077XL)and its got a real smooth sustained tone with real good articulation but i find the initial frets rather troublesome when it comes to playing chords. The usual chords are pretty simple but when i start moving into closed voiced chords or weirder chords like this:

xx2754x

My fingers just arent able to pull it off on a 27 inch. So i guess its a bit of a trade off really, some articulation for fretboard stretches.

How does the Lundgren compare to a Blaze Custom?

Aside from the neck being too thick for me (very content with my Ibanez 7 necks) I like the Epiphone LP Classic 7-strings.

Congrats to you when or if you get it.

My thoughts exactly. You simply cannot go wrong with an RG 7. However everyone has different tastes.

Thing is man, i already have a RG 2077 XL, and i figured instead of getting another RG, i could just try something new. Hence how i stumbled upon this lil 7 string....

I don really know...I have never tried a Blaze Custom :-) Sorry...

But I will agree, Ibanez have much better quality instruments then Epiphone, but I got this cause I love the Les Paul look, and wanted a 7 string version.

I donno if Gibson makes a 7 string bridges...I got Cargill Custom guitars in Melbourne Australia to do the job for me, he got all the gibson parts for me. But he did say that the bridge on the Epiphone was pretty much the same as he had gotten, same quality bridge.

^^^^
As jimmy says above the pickups are not the greatest..
I got one of these for £250 so it was well worth it...
considering its an epiphone the finish was beautiful and the
neck much easier to play than i'd expected!

If you like that look, try and find a Dean EVO Special 7. I have a black one, and I love it.
