Re: Where is the destroyer?
It has been destroyed! Sorry folks, couldn't help myself.
Seriously though, Ibanez did offer one in 2005, but it has been discontinued.
Probably because of low demand. Players are lusting after the older models (from what I read, the 1981-1984 models are superior to the new models), or they are switching to different brands altogether.
I started shopping for my Destroyer-shaped guitar about a month ago. I played the 2005 Destroyer, along with the Dean Z, Gibson Explorer, Hamer Standard, ESP/LTD EX, and even some cheap-o knock-offs (e.g. Slammer). The Dean won hands down (this coming from an Ibanez die-hard), and the Destroyer didn't come even close. Even thought the Dean costed me about
%20 more, it is twice the guitar! And the color options range from high-impact (on the top-of-the-line USA models), to the classic woody-look (ala Les-Paul), to the basic black or white models (the colors that Leppard's Pete Willis had - remember him?). Dean is selling those models by the boat-load these days, and rightfully so. If I were you, I would either follow toneboy's advice, or buy a Dean Z.
I hope this helps.
