I was surfing on the Ibanez Japan sites to drool over my favourite guitar, RG8670. But the guitar was nowhere to be find on the sites. Did Ibanez stop to produce them? I was hoping to go to Japan this autumn and buy one...

Ibanes has discontinued them. But look on ikebe website, tehy have few left. And even they are discontinued I think you can find some in japanese stores if you go there.

Yep... the 8670 has gooone!! but there is a new 8270.

I am glad I managed to arrange one of those 8670 for me...

Is the RG8270F the same guitar as the RG8670? They come in the same colors and they look alike too. Don't know to much about the specs.

As far as I can tell, they're the same except for the following:

- The 8270 isn't offered in the violet finish.
- The 8270 doesn't have a matching headstock. It's a wood veneer.
- The 8270 has a slightly thicker neck (18mm vs 17mm).
- The 8270 has an unbound rosewood fretboard. The 8670 had an ebony board bound in maple.
- The 8270 comes with the now standard maple / walnut neck. The 8670 had a maple / bubinga neck.

I'm not sure about this one, but the hardware might be different colors. The 8670 had violet chrome hardware. It looks like the 8270 has powder cosmo, though I'm not certain.

I said this in another thread, but IMO, the 8270 is a slightly downgraded 8670. Given the model numbers, I think that's Ibanez's intent.

Actually, I think 8270 has a bound neck. I looked at the pictures more closely and I think there is black binding like it was on RG570EX I had once.

Though binding is nice I think it just creates more trouble during refretting...

IShi did not have any VV, BX or TB left, they found mine in one of their stores by chance. TV and TR were available and Ishi was selling TR at reduced price for some time. I think it could be tricky to find the first three finishes in October, but I am not in Japan on the other hand..

Ok, thx. But won't there come any RG's that are better or the same within the same pricerange from Ibanez?

I'm hoping some better J-Custom's are coming 'cause the 2005 J-Custom lineup doesn't really cut it for me. I had a chance at getting the 8270 at dealer cost but ended up getting a RG1880S instead. Hopefully next years lineup would bring the return of the 8670, but knowing Ibanez, the same model will come out with a higher price tag.

I just ordered one of the last two that Ishibashi had. they had a red and a voilet and I went with the red. It wasn't my first choice for a color but I couldn't find any contact info for Ikebe and they took it off of their site today. Ishibasi was great to deal with and gave me a good deal. I will fill you in when I get it
