Re: Where are Jacksons made?

I don't see them closing down the Jackson Custom shop and absorbing it into Fender's, but I suppose you never know. It does seem highly unlikely to me though.

Dude, we like you. That is all that matters.

Re: Where are Jacksons made?

You caould always ask around on the JCF (about the CS move, not the purported loveliness of Wisbech )

Re: Where are Jacksons made?

Lots of people say the best jacksons were the pre 94' and since Fender bought Jackson.... hmmmm

I know Jackson made their stuff on japan (the logo were "Jackson professional") and USA (The logo were "Jackson made in USA").

Both constructions were great in early 90's, especially, the neck-thru models.

Re: Where are Jacksons made?

I have a 2004 Jackson Soloist and it kills the '90 Pro Soloist I used to have, and '90 is considered the best of the Japanese Pro years. And that's not to take anything away from the '90 Pro, but my USA kills it, plain and simple. Like most things made of wood, it depends upon the pieces yours is made of to a large degree.

I would choose Ibanez over anything else for a bolt on, but for a neck through I'd take a Jackson USA Soloist over a J-Custom any day (every day?) of the week.

Re: Where are Jacksons made?

I had a 96 USA King-V and it was definitely ballin supreme. One of the three things ever stolen from me. Oh, the fury!

I did hear they were closing the Japanese factory making the Jackson Professional line, thats why theyve been doing closeouts on all the online stores. I might add the Pro line is very very awesome, almost USA custom quality, but the maple tops aren't quite as nice. The fretwork is definitely japanese-attention-to-detail though. I always suspected they stole some Ibanez employees!

However, I don't suspect they'll close the USA custom shop. It, to me, is the only REAL big manufacturer USA custom shop around (other than Suhr). If you have the $$$, they will make ANY Jackson guitar for you. Charvel will hardly do that for you, and forget Gibson.

Re: Where are Jacksons made?

This isn't the case. JS series is indian or indonesian, everything above that that isn't 'Select' is made in Japan (and very well I might add) and the USA Select stuff has been made in the same factory as Fender's USA/CS for years. Fender did wonders for Jackson's quality control in my opinion. I've had a late 80's soloist Custom (borrowed, lol) and I own a 2007 RR1, the 2007 was just leaps and bounds ahead. It's a tank and it'll last forever!

I'm with Jim777, for neck through guitars, give me Jackson any day.

Re: Where are Jacksons made?

BTW, Jackson Stars was what I was trying to think of, i'm sorry, not the Jackson pro line.

I remember them trying to do closeouts on the Stars line.

But anyway, I just read this kinda old article and I totally didn't know that one of the Jackson luthiers founded Caparison.
