Re: Who has an AZ???

We received one last week and I have to be honest, I was expecting more. All of the money is in the neck finish and fret work, everything else is just average. The tuners and bridge both look like Chinese junk as does the pickguard. The bridge on ours also sat high and the saddles were at the end of their travel. It worked fine and sounded good but I don't think it's what people are expecting, it's certainly no Suhr-killer as people are claiming.

Re: Who has an AZ???

Somebody claimed it was a Suhr killer? Not that I've read.
Would have been nice to know which model actually came in.

Re: Who has an AZ???

Sorry, the model was the AZ224F in the horrible sunburst finish. Did I mention the reverse-chevron flame top? vile. I think all of the Suhr comparison has to do with the headstock shape and wishful thinking.

Re: Who has an AZ???

So a questionable quality Premium came in and your assessment is "they're not a Suhr killer"? Which, nobody ever said they were, or would be, just a hopeful alternative to retain some of the customer base you've built over the years. And that a Premium isn't going to do it is not a shocking observation.

Re: Who has an AZ???

I'm on an FB group and a couple of people received their Premiums - tool marks on the fretboard, dents in the fretboard.... finish sanded too far down to the wood...

I was told the Premiums at the show were of course cherry picked so while I was impressed at where they were, if those were what I could just get with any order I would handle them. The truth is Premiums haven't made any light years advance in quality, and maybe not a years advance, actually, I don't think they've made any advance. There is 1 guy capable of doing the frets right, but you have to combine that with a body without fault and a neck without fault. And there are still far too many faults, for me.

I got lucky with my RG6PCMLTD - bought it as new (but 2nd hand). Well apart from needing rewiring... As single coil was incorrectly wired and had a low output. Only bummer is the flame is poor on mine....

Hmmm might skip the AZ

Re: Who has an AZ???

I guess this is a premium v prestige branding distinction issue. :/
