who owns an ESP ec 1000 or similar guitar?

i have read a lot about this guitar and i am hearing that bang for the buck (around $700-$800 new), they are a better value than a Les Paul and from what i have seen on eBay, they seem to hold some value as well ($550-$650). anybody have one or have played one? i've never been an EMG person - i would be curious to play the Seymour duncans and try the EMG variation as well. i'm trying to get the ESP line of guitars in the store i work in and i think the owner is going to get the line. he is also checking out BC Rich . we'll see how thios goes.

Yep excellent guitar and a great deal for the level of the hardware and electronics that come standard on it.I have the black cherry one i just happen to prefer the emgs (but i do like duncans also)great playing guitar nice action a really smooth playing guitar not excatly a les paul its thinner than them but still get a huge tone out of it.

hope this helped

sounds like a guitar to look into and try out somewhere- from what i have read, it sounds solid and very toneful whether you try the EMG pups or the Seymour pups. i did buy a NEW Gibson Explorer '76 re-issue (SWEEET!) yesterday, so it will be a little while before my next aquisition.

i am hoping the store i work at might pick up the line of guitars. if that happens, i can get a black one with chrome hardware (the gold doesn't appeal to me) and the Seymour pups.
i saw some Schecter guitars at Guitar Center a couple days ago and was very impressed for a korean guitar. the "blackjack" models have the right pups (seymour duncan JB and '59) and are mohagany bodies with set necks. very good tone and sleek looks. another possibility down the road after i decide on the EC1000 - and lick my wounds from a month long GAS attack that brought me 5 new guitars. i now must loose about 2-3 from my "arsenal" to pay back the credit card. well worth it with a 777VBK and the Explorer ('76 reissue) among some nice others i've gotten. oh, the humanity!

I just picked up the ESP MHB-200 Baritone & I LOVE IT! Thanks to the neck-thru & string-thru design, plus the EMGs, this thing screams with tons of sustain & tone! I think I'm becoming an ESP convert (is that blasphemy in here?). My ESP is an absolute joy to play!

congrats! i own a Fender Sub-Sonic Baritone guitar (USA) that i feel the same way about. it isn't a neck-thru but does have good sustain and tone. i thought that would quench my thirst for a seven string - it didn't. it seems like a totally different animal w/out the upper range of a seven string. maybe a Universe in my future? hmmmm...

i played an EC 1000 on tuesday at a shop in Daytona, FL. they had a quilt red and a black one as well. i was glad to finally get my hands on one to try it out. i really wanted to try out the JB/'59 version as i'm not an EMG kinda guy, but they didn't have one in stock . the feel of the neck was my biggest concern and after a test drive of the axe, i was extremely pleased. it wasn't a Les Paul shaped neck (fat and round) but had a little wider neck that flattened out a little on the back. very comfortable and playable.
ESP sure put alot of "eye candy" on these models. i will most likely buy the quilt red and swap the pups to a JB/'59 set. the overall fit and finish of the guitar was very impressive for the price and also being a Korean made guitar was also impressive for the overall quality - which seemed very well built and with top-notch parts and materials.
the store i work at is going to become an ESP dealer (convenient!) in January so the timing is right and will make it easier on the pocket book to buy one.
i'm sure i will start sweating the Custom Shop and go that route before the end of '05 with an EC model armed with a floyd rose to keep the EC1000 model i'll soon own in good company.
ain't GAS great!?!?!
i most definitely give the EC1000 two thumbs up!

Re: who owns an ESP ec 1000 or similar guitar?

I'm a die-hard Les Paul guy I am seriously considering getting a LTD EC1000 in black and putting a Floyd in it because I just can't see hacking up an LP. I have a friend in CA who has a custom shop ESP EC with a Floyd and it's one of the nicest guitars I have EVER played. But I can't justify spending 3K+ for one since I only occasionally need a Floyd.
