why did ibanez discontinue the maple finger board rg 1550?

not everyone prefers rosewood! i always was dissapointed that ibanez only had that model in black in the USA and now it is no more!

I know exactly what you mean, I'm searching for maple boards to replace the one's i have now ... It's sooo hard

The 1550 no doubt will pop it's head up on some auction site ... Who really knows why ibanez seem to kill off a popular guitar, i.e. 1550 with maple board

Having said that, not overly sure if it's still available over here ?

I think the RG1550 is still available in UK/Europe. And the fretboard is still maple. So you should be able to get a new one as well.

But it's not a good thing to stop making them, if that's the case.

I think they probably didn't sell many new ones over here because the older ones were (and are) readily available in myriad awesome colors. That black on black scheme gets old really fast.
