On other forums (non Ibanez) when someone mentions Ibanez there is always a Jackson owner that has something bad to say about em....why is that?
Jackson's are the ORIGINAL superstrat, no arguing that. THey mark a historical event in inventing the original shred guitar. Not to mention their ultimate, uber guitar of the 80's and 90s [arguably their peak], was the Jackson Soloist, a guitar with certain features that Ibanez could not match with their peak guitars, for example, neck through bodies with ebony fretboards vs. Ibanez' bolts with rosewood boards, real mother of pearl sharkfin inlays vs. Ibanez's cheaper plastic ones. active electronics vs. passive, etc etc.
In the 80's and 90's Jackson was kind of looked at as a better guitar in certain ways. They were more expensive, and I believe they sold more guitars than Ibanez at that time [not 100% sure]. Not to mention Jackson is an American company and American companies get [imo, a tad] overrated due to patriotism and at times racism and ignorance. "I ain't playin' no jap guitar!!" how many times have you heard that? I won't start a hater thread, but guitars like Fender and Gibson command the highest prices per features ratio. To balance the argument, Carvin's, another US company, haven't commanded as high prices.
I've owned several Jacksons, got two Soloist XL's, owned a dinky reverse xl, soloist archtop pro, spectrum, 750xl, 650 custom etc. I'm a big fan of their Pro line since I love thin flat necks. I love my Ibby's too. But I feel you man. There is definitely an aura of arrogance from Jackson fans, in general, to Ibanez fans, in general. But watch the F out for guys who ONLY play american made strats and gibsons. They'll blow you away with stupidity and ignorance.
