Why do people seem to choose the Lo Pro over the Edge Pro?

I picked up an RG3120, made in 99 with the Lo pro. All my other Prestiges have had the Edge Pro. I saw on here that the two are interchangeable, and I like the Edge Pro.

Is there a reason I should keep the Lo pro?

Locking studs. You can get the full explanation in the first two paragraphs in the link below.

I chose the Lo-Pro cause its better! No, IMO it's better but that's me. Probably for the same reason you like the edge pros more. I don't care for the string retainers on the edge pros, and to be perfectly honest, I like the looks of how a lo-pro sits in the trem route compared to the edge pros. I don't think that it's anything you need to replace. They are both on equal when it comes to stability. Oh, does your EP's have locking studs???

Re: Why do people seem to choose the Lo Pro over the Edge Pro?

Yeah for me it's strictly cosmetic, as I've never noticed a difference in performance or tone. I've never been a hardcore whammier lol, I really only use it for emulating Dimebag squeals.

Thanks for the info guys!!

Probably because it's closer to the original Edge. The farther you move away from the Edge, the more Ibanez players are going to complain.

Re: Why do people seem to choose the Lo Pro over the Edge Pro?

IMO Edge Pro is a better trem and Ibanez made a mistake moving away from it. I'm hoping they realize this but, hey, who am I?
The only thing I don't like about EP is the ridiculous clearance of the saddle hex nuts in comparison to the fine tuners. Whoever missed that should be smacked. LOL!

Re: Why do people seem to choose the Lo Pro over the Edge Pro?

The Edge and Lo-Pro edge have proven themselves to be stable and a lot of people like their feel. Keep in mind that a lot of guys have also been playing those trems for years and it's what is comfortable to them. The Edge Pro feels different, just like the ZR trem I tried yesterday, totally different feel than the Edge's I have had on most of my guitars. Not a bad thing, just different.

In my opinion, the lo-pro is more aesthetically pleasing due to the string lock screws not protruding out of the back like the original Edge does.

Re: Why do people seem to choose the Lo Pro over the Edge Pro?

I have guitars with Edge, Lo-Pro and Edge-Pro. I prefer Lo-Pro, not sure why, probably because my first and therefore main Jem has one!
They all seem to work pretty well, might look into the stud issues if I notice a problem with the Edge-Pro...

Re: Why do people seem to choose the Lo Pro over the Edge Pro?

I've been using an Edge for 24 years, a LoPro for 20, and recently got my first Edge Pro. They are all top-notch, but I prefer the LoPro for the feel. I like the original Edge almost as much. Can't wait to try out the EZ2 heading my way soon.

Edge Zero 2 on the RG920QM Premium I ordered from Rich. Go to the Ibanez site to see the new guitars.

Re: Why do people seem to choose the Lo Pro over the Edge Pro?

I don't like Edge Pro, I don't get the idea of the design that we don't have to cut the ball end of the strings anymore when using Edge pro.
BUt to put the ball end sit correctly at the socket is such a pain in the a s s.
it takes more time than cutting the ball end, and do it the old fashion inserting the string to the saddle and lock it up.

Edge / Lo pro edge all the way.

I ditched all my guitars with edge pro long time ago.
