Re: why has my guitar done this?

Put a fork in it, because that pot is done. Ibanez does not exactly use the best pots all it's models.

You can pick up a new one pretty cheap.

Prestiges aren't really made like they used to. I know my 3120 is mahogany bodies (maple top) with a dimarzio switch and real dimarzio pickups.. nowadays you get the cheapo ibanez switch and stock pots, with a basswood body.

Still, pots are really cheap.

There is no Dimarzio switches in Ibanez.

If it's under warranty then it's covered, but more pain than just replacing yourself.

It's no surprise by now that Ibanez is having a supplier problem with their pots.

Re: why has my guitar done this?

Have you tried loosening the setscrew on the knob to see if it's really the pot?

Sometimes the knobs will push down - causing the pots to stick. Such was the case with my RGPR2.

Quite right - pots are NOT seviceable items - other than giving them a spray with switch cleaner periodically.

Bin it and fit a new one - don't be frightened...... its easy ;-))

I sell the Dimarzio pots which are great quality and £5.25

PM me for details or take the link at the top of the page to my website.
