Why nobody will do an Ibanez neck???

I'm a total Ibanez player, and just love Ibanez necks. Nothing else will do. I was just wondering why it seems that NO OTHER COMPANY will do a neck like Ibanez. I even contacted Suhr about a custom guitar, but with an Ibanez wizard profile, or even a true Jem profile. Nobody will touch the Ibanez neck specs. Which is a good thing I suppose. I refuse to play anything else!

Warmoth have a wizard-spec neck that is probably closest to a Wizard II.

Re: Why nobody will do an Ibanez neck???

Bunker guitars, ( who was involved somewhat in the USA custom RG's) sells an excellent Replament neck for Ibanez' guitars, as well as their custom shop makes a Custom USRG , which looks very familiar.

Perle Guitars makes a replacement neck for Ibanez as well as a few other smaller companies, which are a good starting point to building a custom ibanez profile guitar.

If you were expecting a major manufacturer to make a guitar featuring an Ibanez neck profile, I just don't see that in the works, but hey, I'd be in line for that too.

Sad thing is,.. When there was an Ibanez custom shop, ( somewhat of a custom shop) it was under utilized, and that is what many, MANY, ibanez users beg to have now.

Re: Why nobody will do an Ibanez neck???

If a company has something similar, they won't say. I wouldn't want to get Ibanez legal on my tail.

To be honest, Ibanez made the first great shredder neck along with Jackson and Charvel. If you see some MIJ ESPs you can get something close to a Wizard neck. Some old Jackson and Charvel necks, they varied in early days, will feel a lot like the Wizard necks, too. So similar are some ESP, Jackson, and Charvels, that if you like the Wizard neck, you will also like those.

I see that the budget versions of these other companies may have necks that are hit and miss as it compares to Wizard, but other than the dimensions, the really nice fretwork of Wizards are what make it key. Like somebody already mentioned, Warmoth makes a close approximation of Wizard neck. Also check out signature models within the ESP and LTD lines and those necks are made to players' specs and some may feel exactly like a Wizard neck but there's no way to know unless you play them. Scroll to "signature series" on this site: www.espguitars.com/guitars.html

Re: Why nobody will do an Ibanez neck???

I posted a few days ago about a Greco WP model guitar I am "refurbishing" and the maple neck/maple fretboard on that is exactly, exactly like my Ibanez Viper profile on my 430 S. then again, as it was probably made by the same tech at Fugijen, on the same line, at the same time, that's understandable.

The early Kramer's were assembled from parts made by ESP, (bodies and necks), as were some other well known guitars. I dug the necks on the Kramer Pacer Special Guitars,... The ones with a regular or brass nut, not a shelf for a Floyd. They were ESP made and came with the ESP flicker trem.

Yamaha Pacificas from the early 90's had thinner necks! Better than the Wizard IMO, and have have 7 Ibanez guitars sitting here looking at me...and 5 Yamahas...
