Why prices on guitars varies soo much???

I don't know how the guitar business or industry works, but why is the price on my guitar an RG470L is selling for $325.00(a steal!) at guitar trader but its $699.00 or $499.00 somewhere else? Ibanez actually allowed vendors to sell the guitars that low? I ask b/c i like to why so I dont feel like they sold me a refurbish or blemished guitar. I got my for $325.00 which originally retailed for $700.00! But hey, I'm not complaining though...just curious.

Most of the time it depends on the country you're buying the guitar and how long the store had that guitar. If a guitar is new-old stock it still is new (not sold once), but the model is maybe 2 years or more old...

If you check out secondhand guitars you'll find even bigger differences, you won't believe what people are willing to pay for a guitar, just to have the headstock say 7ender or Gibson

i find it really annoying that ibanez guitars cost so much more in the uk.

eg, an RG1570 is £600 RRP which is about $1000 which is $250 more than the US list price.

it annoys me so much

Thing is, when talking strictly list prices it usually works out cheaper in the UK than ordering from the states. NOTE : IF TALKING LIST PRICE AND IF FULLY CHARGED TAX!

List price on a 1570 here is £599 ($1016)
List price on a 1570 in the states is $750 (£441)

If you pay roughly $120 on shipping, and then 22% Tax / Vat on the US guitar it becomes £625

The difference is that in the US you can get prices far lower the list than over here.
More competition in the states so there are always price matchers and things. Over here the dealers all go, heh fockit the list is £1900, if we advertise that and make our price £1800 the people will think they are getting a good deal.
Sorry, the internet has buggered that all up for you now, so they SHOULD be dropping prices overhere sometime now that a large number of people are importing.

Tell me about it, but saying that I just got a new RG1570 for £485, helps when you can get discounts, ha ha ha ha

The experiences of people in my neighbourhood and myself are pretty positive about ordering in cheaper countries (Holland isn't too cheap either ) If you order from Japan (Ishigashi) you have a good change that your package will go through taxes without notice. They're not as keen on Japan as on the USA, and they're cheaper anyway

Umm, well, like, ummm.

I have seen axes in Japan that aren't available in either the States or here in Europe, mostly prestiges and J-customs that I had never seen before The 22% tax issue is sure nice to avoid
