Wich model is this?

Found this guitar at my local musicstore. From the serial number I can tell it's made at Fuji-gen Plant, Japan in 1987. Looks a little bit weird with the three switches. The body is not in mint condition but neck, trem and the rest is just fine. Was thinking about buying it and have as a little renovation project.

What kind of model is it, and is it any good?

It's a S540 dating from 1987 or 1988 (with IBZ/USA pu's and 3 mini switch)

Awesome guitar !

What do you plan to do with it? And how much are they asking, if you don't mind telling

Looks great with the metallic dark red (?) finish, though

Re: Wich model is this?

My plans for the guitar is new paint, fix it up in general, maybe new pups, and ofcourse playing it until my fingers bleed . The store wants about 500USD for it, maybe cheaper. I live in sweden and guitars here normally costs alot. To put it in some sort of perspective, a new S2170 in Sweden costs about 2670USD.

Dude, you're killimg me with the suspence here ....what colour are you thinking of doing it in and what pickups? Not that it's my business but it would really put this thread into perspective. The price is awesome, BTW, maybe try negotiate a bit more off if possible but yeah, really cool guitar dude.

Re: Wich model is this?

Press them to lower the price. I think that the top end of the tremolo near the locking stud is broken (on the bass side). Check with the treble side to see if it is the same. My guess is that it'll work just fine, but it sure looks bad.

Re: Wich model is this?

i too have an Edge (540P) with one of the front end "teeth" broken, but it works great.

Sledgeman, just ONE think we're asking you: please, do not pull the Backstop sticker from the trem! it's a nice touch from the golden era
