Will this work?

Hi,

All you tech guys. I need your help. I have an SV470, but the neck cracked bad, and I need a new one. It's not an Edge trem guitar, but a trem like a fender. It has a two screw trem that is made of solid brass. I can buy an S series Japanese neck with the same 22 frets, etc,. The only difference is that it has a Edge / Floyd Rose nut, and my old neck had a regular nut. But, I'm just wanting to buy a neck with the floyd nut / S series guitar neck and stick on this body, but I want to make sure it will work..

Will it intonate properly and work? I mean they are both the same scale length, etc? The only difference is maybe a little bit different radius, and the nut? Thanks in advance.. Let me know if it's work, or if I can just stick it on and intonate like a normal guitar neck attached to a body.. I want to just leave the neck trem nut on and use it instead of buying a new nut, but if a regular bone nut will work, please explain how to install if needs to be different? How to setup? I'm pretty handy with tools and stuff.. Used to work in a machine shop..
God speed
Tim

Re: Will this work?

If the scale length and neck/pocket dimensions are the same then you should be good to go. The screw holes may not line up, but that's easy to retro-fit.

The neck pocket may be routed deeper on the SV. Do some measuring before you commit. Or just buy an S body and bridge, and transfer the other hardware and electronics.

The nut will be fine. You might need to put a bit of foam under the strings behind it to stop any harmonic resonating. I have an RG480 neck here bolted to a cheap RG2EX1 body and it's one of my fav guitars. Had to put the foam behind the nut on this. You can see it on the right:
