Wobbly, crackly jack sockets

On my RG321 the jack socket is somewhat loose, and tends to make a fussy, crackling noise quite frequently. Screwing the hex in tighter doesn't make a difference. Do you think it might be to do with how tight it sits or the jack socket itself?

Re: Wobbly, crackly jack sockets

The jack is crap apparently, as all 321s seem to do this over time. Having said that, I just won a new 321 of the bay for $100, and it showed up today. I have to say it is really not that bad of guitar for what it cost. I am sure some things will be upgrading (jack, pups), but for less than a MIM strat, I have no complaints.

Why is this in the wrong forum?

Sorry, I thought I'd posted it in one of the Ibanez ones...

So anyway how do most people go about the problem? Is a replacement jack the only solution?

Correct.

The stock jack is junk, so just replace the whole jack as it is easy and cheap.
